In the eerie quiet of an off-season storm in New England, a green mist rolls inland, trapping strangers inside a seaside café. Among them: a marine biologist named Dr. Mascioni, his girlfriend Sara, a bickering couple, a brother and sister on a road trip, two hikers, the café's owner, and an old mariner with many secrets.
Power flickers. Communication with the outside world is lost. People start disappearing — claimed, according to Dr. Mascioni, by a massive prehistoric sea creature that emerges from the mist. When the mist recedes, no one believes his tale.
Branded a fraud, ridiculed by the scientific community, and dismissed as delusional, Dr. Mascioni loses everything — his career at the Oceanographic Institute, his credibility, and nearly his sanity. He retreats into seclusion, adopting the pseudonym Dr. X, and begins a series of cryptic podcasts from a remote coastal shack.
It's 2025, and Dr. X breaks his silence. Through chilling flashbacks, audio recreations, and survivor interviews, he recounts the horrifying events of 2005. But his motive isn't nostalgia — it's a warning.
